Bill’s Nigeria Reports

Mission 1 Comment »

NigeriaGreetings to you all and thank you once again for praying me through a demanding 10 days in south east Nigeria. I felt the effect of prayer several times. God opened 3 doors for ministry and I was able to give 9 messages over 8 days, 4 of them at the church in Umunakanu, the home village of my brother Chika, who organized the trip and who goes to the church I attend in Kuala Lumpur. Global Poverty Prayer WeekIn October we raised over £100 as part of our harvest celebrations. Thank you to everyone who contributed and those who helped make such a wonderful meal. We also learnt a little about what it means to live in poverty and how Tearfund work to help communities by providing resources and support to local churches.

Tearfund are organising churches across the world to pray for change. You can find out more at www.bepartofamiracle.org.uk

Mission No Comments »

UCCF FreshDo you know anyone who is starting university this year? Do you think that they would like to be visited and supported by a Christian student?

UCCF: The Christian Unions has an online service where new students can arrange to be contacted when they arrive at college. They also offer a range of resources for new students and the parents they leave behind on their Freshers website.

For those of us not being challenged by a new start at university please pray for all the new students and Christian unions across the country.

Open DoorsThank you to everyone who gave money in return for the free used books at church on Sunday 23 September. 2007

The money we raised will provide two Study Bibles for pastors in the Middle East.

Open Doors serve persecuted Christians worldwide. Pastor Abdul in the Middle East who is supported by the organisation says:

“When my boy goes out to school, I have deep fear inside. It is just so dangerous. Only God’s Word can provide the courage that we need here.”

If you have caught a bug for reading then you can read some good reviews at Discerning Reader and purchase books online from St Andrews Christian Bookshop.

An Easter Poem

Such love! There’s nothing can compare
With what my Saviour suffered there!
He took my guilt,
my anger, pride. And all the sins
that are deep inside.
He made me clean.
He made me free. For his precious blood
was shed for me.

On Easter Saturday, Churches Together Sudbury presented a production ‘of lies and love’ telling the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Scenes were played at four locations around the town and a large crowd followed as Jesus was first taken to the priests at the temple, then onto trail by Pilate, and finally to the cross.
