Did you know that the Bible says we have broken a Law that demands the death penalty? Let’s see if that’s true in your case by looking at God’s moral Law, known as the Ten Commandments. Have you ever lied (even once) or stolen (regardless of value)? If you said yes, you’ve admitted that you’re a lying thief. If you hate someone, the Bible says you are a murderer (1 John 3:15) Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart,” (Matthew 5:28). So if God gives you justice on Judgment Day, you will be guilty, and end up in Hell. That’s not God’s will. He made a way for you to be forgiven.
In the story, Edmund received the death penalty, but Aslan (the great lion) died in his place, taking the punishment for him. This is an allegory of what Jesus did for you: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus suffered and died on the Cross, taking the punishment for your sins. Then He rose from the dead and defeated death. If you repent and trust in the Saviour, God will forgive you and grant you eternal life. Pray something like this: “Dear God, I confess I am a sinner. Thank you that Jesus took my punishment upon Himself when He died on the Cross for my sins, and then rose from the dead, defeating death. Today, I repent and place my trust in Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” Read John 14:21, then read your Bible daily and obey what you read.
